Clean power,properly certified.

Consumer units, rewires, inspections and EV charge points across the Meadow Lane villages — tested to the 18th Edition, written up the same week, and left tidy enough that you can tell where we worked only by the paperwork.

  • Isolation agreed before work starts
  • Certificates in writing
  • Fixed quotes after survey
  • Nothing switched off unannounced

We agree the isolation window with you first, then work to it — freezers, servers and home offices included.

  • Tested, then written up

Every circuit we touch is tested and recorded, and the certificate reaches you within the same week.

  • One quote, held for 60 days

After the survey you get a fixed figure with the materials listed, not an hourly guess at the door.

Call-out lanes

What we are usually called out for

Six jobs make up most of our week. Each one has a fixed shape, so you can tell before booking roughly how long we'll be on site and what you'll be handed at the end.

Consumer unit replacement

Swapping an old fuse box or a unit without RCD protection for a metal-clad board with individual RCBOs, so one faulty appliance stops tripping the whole house.

  • Half-day isolation
  • Circuit schedule relabelled
  • Installation certificate

Full and partial rewires

Planned room by room so the property stays liveable. We agree the socket and lighting plan on paper before any cable is pulled, and we lift floorboards rather than chase ceilings where there's a choice.

  • First fix & second fix
  • Written socket plan
  • Building control notification

EICR inspection & reporting

The periodic condition report landlords, buyers and insurers ask for. We test, code each observation, and talk you through which items are genuinely urgent and which can wait for the next cycle.

  • Coded observations
  • Remedial quote separate
  • Report as a PDF

EV charge point installation

We check the incoming supply and main fuse rating first, then site the unit where the cable actually reaches the car. Load management is set up if the supply is shared or close to capacity.

  • Supply capacity check
  • Dedicated protected circuit
  • Commissioning notes

Lighting, sockets & outbuildings

Kitchen and workshop lighting, extra sockets where extension leads have taken over, and armoured runs out to garages, studios and stables with their own protection at the far end.

  • Dimmable circuits
  • Outdoor-rated fittings
  • Buried cable records

Fault finding & nuisance tripping

Intermittent trips, warm sockets, a shower that cuts out under load. We isolate by circuit, measure rather than guess, and tell you what the fix costs before we carry it out.

  • Circuit-by-circuit testing
  • Cause explained in writing
  • Repair quoted before work

Anatomy of a visit

Four stages, and you know where we are in them

Electrical work goes wrong when nobody says what happens next. This is the order we work in on almost every job, from a single socket to a staged rewire.

  1. Survey and supply check

We look at the board, the earthing arrangement and the incoming supply, then photograph what matters so the quote is based on your property rather than an average one.

  2. Written quote and isolation window

A fixed figure with materials listed, plus the hours the power will be off and which rooms are affected on each day.

  3. Install, then test

Cables run, accessories fitted, and every circuit tested on the same visit. Anything we find along the way is raised before it becomes extra cost.

  4. Certificate and handover

We walk you through the new board, label the schedule, clear up, and send the certificate with any notification reference the same week.

What you should be handed, and why it matters

Paperwork is the part most people discover they're missing at the worst moment — mid-sale, mid-tenancy or mid-claim. Here's what leaves with you, depending on the job.

Installation certificate

Issued for new circuits and board changes. It records the test results and confirms the work meets the current wiring regulations.

Minor works certificate

For additions to an existing circuit — an extra socket, a moved light switch — with the tests carried out on that circuit.

Condition report (EICR)

A full inspection with each observation coded by urgency. Landlords and buyers' solicitors usually want this one.

Building control notification

Notifiable work is registered on your behalf, and the reference is sent to you with the certificate rather than left for you to chase.

Labelled circuit schedule

A readable list inside the board cover, so the next person — including you at midnight — can find the right breaker.

Cable route notes

Where cables run under floors or across a garden, we note the depths and routes so future work doesn't cut through them.

Ask what your job needs

Coverage & hours

Where we work, and how soon

We keep the patch small on purpose: it's the only way to hold a same-week response. Response windows below are for a first look, not the full job.

Area First look Notes
Meadow Lane & Ashcombe Within 2 working days Core patch — survey usually same week
Welbury Green Within 3 working days Grouped with Ashcombe visits
Thornhill & the Mill Road estates Within 3 working days Older boards common — allow a longer survey
Barrowfield industrial units Booked by appointment Out-of-hours isolation available
Outlying farms and barns Within 5 working days Three-phase and armoured runs quoted separately

Questions we're asked every week

Honest answers to the things that decide whether a job is worth doing now or waiting for.

How long will the power actually be off?

A consumer unit change is normally four to six hours of isolation. Adding a circuit is usually under an hour. For a staged rewire we isolate one floor at a time, so there's working light and at least one live socket for a kettle or a laptop throughout.

Does my job need to be notified to building control?

New circuits, board replacements and work in bathrooms or outdoors are notifiable. Replacing a like-for-like socket or light fitting is not. We tell you which category your job falls into at quote stage and handle the registration ourselves when it applies.

My fuse box is old but nothing has gone wrong. Should I replace it?

Not automatically. The questions that matter are whether there is RCD protection, whether the earthing and bonding are adequate, and what condition the cables are in. An inspection answers all three, and sometimes the honest outcome is bonding work rather than a new board.

Can my supply take an EV charger?

Most single-phase homes can, but it depends on the main fuse rating and what else draws heavily — electric showers, induction hobs, heat pumps. If the margin is tight we fit load management so the charger reduces its draw instead of tripping the main fuse.

Can you work in a tenanted property?

Yes, and we're used to coordinating it. We'll contact the tenant directly to agree access and the isolation window if you'd prefer, and we keep the landlord copied on the certificate and any coded observations.

Who makes good the plaster and the floors?

We cut neatly, refit floorboards and leave chases ready for a plasterer. Finishing plaster and decorating aren't included unless the quote says so — we'd rather price it in clearly than surprise you with it.

How long is a quote valid, and do you ask for a deposit?

Quotes hold for 60 days. Larger jobs carry a materials deposit, which is itemised on the quote; the balance is due after testing and handover, not before.

What counts as an emergency, and what should I do first?

Burning smells, scorched accessories, water reaching a board, or a breaker that won't stay on. Switch off at the main switch, leave it off, and send us a message noting what happened just before — we'll prioritise it in the next available slot.

Quote & inspection request

Tell us about the property

Electrical work can't be priced from a list, so this goes straight to the person who will survey it. The more you can say about the board and the access, the closer the first figure will be.

  • We reply with either a figure or the questions we still need answered.
  • Surveys are arranged around your isolation constraints, not ours.
  • If the job isn't worth doing yet, we'll say so.
We use these details for the quote only, and we won't add you to a mailing list.
